Press Release
21 March 2025
Australian wealth manager commits $60 million to Osmosis’ flagship Responsible Investment strategy.
Perpetual Private, the wealth management business of ASX-listed financial services provider Perpetual Limited (Perpetual), has added the Osmosis Resource Efficient Core Equity Fund to its multi-asset, multi-manager programme, with an initial allocation of AUD 60 million via a separate account. Headquartered in Sydney Australia, Perpetual provides asset management, wealth management, and trustee services to local and international clients and manages approximately AUD 230.2 billion in assets as of 31 December 2024. Perpetual Private is the latest in a growing list of Australian investors to commit to Osmosis Investment Management’s range of Resource Efficient strategies.
The Osmosis Core Equity Fund, Osmosis IM’s systematically run flagship strategy, targets a better risk-adjusted return than the MSCI World benchmark by identifying companies that are more Resource Efficient than their same sector peers, and therefore better placed to benefit from the transition to a more sustainable global economy. The Strategy delivers an immediate reduction in Carbon, Water, and Waste ownership in excess of 60%** while remaining invested across the broader economy.
The Resource Efficient Core Equity Fund is underpinned by a proprietary team of environmental data experts that analyse and rank the world’s largest corporations based on their sustainable actions rather than their targets or intentions. Through its Model of Resource Efficiency, which evaluates, standardises, and contextualises environmental data, Osmosis can link corporate Resource Efficiency to economic value generation and financial performance. Osmosis firmly believes, and its research has demonstrated, that those companies that have effectively monetised sustainability to the balance sheet will outperform their sector peers over the long term.
Ben Dear, CEO, Osmosis Investment Management
“This exciting new partnership will give Perpetual Private clients access to our flagship equity strategy via their responsible investment multi-manager programme. As demand for risk-controlled sustainable investment products grows, our innovative approach suits those investors who wish to invest with an environmental focus while seeking better returns than the benchmark.”
Greg Kynoch, Senior Research Analyst, Perpetual Private
“We’re pleased to invest in Osmosis’ flagship Resource Efficient Core Equity strategy via separate account within our Implemented RI International Shares Portfolio. The strategy is aligned with our commitment to selecting specialist asset managers who incorporate responsible investment considerations as part of their investment strategies, in turn supporting the objectives and desires of a range of clients. Osmosis’ disciplined approach to targeting more resource efficient companies within a benchmark-aware framework is an attractive inclusion within a portfolio seeking to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns while simultaneously delivering against select ESG-related outcomes.”
Growth in Australian Assets
The Perpetual Private investment brings Osmosis’ Australian assets under management to approximately USD 2.4 billion (AUD 3.8 billion) *. Osmosis’s flagship Core Equity Range has attracted over USD 17 billion (AUD 24 billion) in assets since its launch seven years ago*. Osmosis incorporated an Australian subsidiary (OSMOSIS INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT (AUSTRALIA) PTY LTD (Australian Company Number 670 854 798) into the Osmosis group of companies last year and Australia continues to be a key focus for the firm.
Osmosis’ products are distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Osmosis Investment Management’s long-term capital advisory partner in the region, Clearway Capital Solutions.
